How to improve your CV in 2023

How to improve your CV in 2023
MARK: We are now joined by Phoebe Press from our Perth office. G'day, Phoebe. How are you?

PHOEBE: I'm very good, thank you, Mark. How are you?

MARK: Very good. I'm a bit excited about the possible Australian win in the cricket this afternoon in India. But we're not here to talk about the cricket. We're here to talk about how to improve your CV in 2023. Phoebe, you've got some tips for us?

PHOEBE: I certainly do. Firstly, when applying for jobs, tailor your CV to match the specific role advertised. Recruiters can spot a generic CV from a mile off, so making those few alterations before sending it out is key.

MARK: Great tip. What's the second one?

PHOEBE: If you have experienced redundancy or layoffs due to COVID, include them on your CV. Transparency is key, and it shouldn't impact your chances of getting a new job. It actually illustrates your skills and experience even more.

MARK: Excellent. And the third tip?

PHOEBE: Ensure the dates on your CV are correct and in chronological order. Listing your previous employment in a chronological order allows recruiters to have a clean overview of your employment history, creating a timeline of your achievements and experience.

MARK: Fantastic tips, Phoebe. Now, while I've got you here, how's the market in Perth at the moment?

PHOEBE: We are desperate for people. It's very candidate short at the moment. Feeling the pinch with not as many people around.

MARK: Well, if anyone's interested in securing a position in WA or wants more tips on putting their CV together, how should they get in touch with you?

PHOEBE: They can email me at vp@people2people.com.au or give me a call at 08 6160 6203.

MARK: Fantastic. Thank you again, and we'll see you next time.
